The Manicorn ...by Tex Hargrove

Manicorn: Just like the perfect man, he does not exist. The reason he does not exist include...

Let me back up. I have quite a few female friends. Single female friends. They are intelligent, attractive, funny, kind, and successful and 80% of them love sports. They are doctors, lawyers, bankers, have PhD's, NP's etc... Only about a third of them can really cook though, but that another topic. All of them are strong women too. Maybe too strong and that brings me back to my reasons why he does not exist:

-We all fall short of the glory of God. No man is perfect. OK! I just wanted to put that out there.

- A LOT of them are hypocrites. They say the want something, but when a brother presents himself saying he wants those same thing, they overlook that guy. Happens all the time. She wants a that wants to be in a relationship, but he isn't tall enough. Oh it happens. Someone has told me " He is a good guy, but he's so short "

- You are never satisfied. No fancy story or anything. If you did meet your perfect man, you'd find something wrong with him one way or another

I know what you all are going to say, " why should I settle?" Being realistic isn't settling. You can't be waiting around for Denzel when you look like Whoopi. You can't sit there and say that he has to have a six pack when you're rocking a muffin top. Also, miss me with that he has to be on a certain level crap too. That doctor/lawyer/whatever is banging his secretary while that construction worker is working hard just for you. Said all all that to say, he's out there. Just maybe not where you think he is.

I love my female friends and sincerely want to see them happy, but they are getting in their own way of happiness.

Thoughts.......

The ManWomanBoogie

Artwork by Jason Hawkes

This art piece was inspired by the title of a Q-Tip song off his new album The Renaissance ( great album ). My interpretation of the song was that the relationships between a man and woman is like a dance. You have your good dances where you guys are smiling in each other faces looking at each other in the eyes LOVE is what they call it. Then there is the slow dances where your close and rubbing all up on each other pulling each other closer and closer PASSION. So from there you might go into a little bit of pit fight dancing, pushing, yelling, screaming, something getting thrown ANGER. Then it's back to face to face grooving smiling and laughing having a good time for the sake of love HAPPINESS..... The Man Woman Boogie, but I'm going to let Q-Tip say it best since it's his song and all.

"man/woman always doin the dance one wops, one pops
we'd be lucky if we both found a groove that we both can lock
can man be stronger if a woman is there?I would have to say yes
can women make it without men being there?she would have to be blessed
woman and man are the spiritual forces brought together to live
good thing its many of us here in the world today
find a good one to give
let's go, c'mon"

Hip Hop Is Alive!!

In The Ruff is the highly anticipated debut album from new DC hip hopgroup “The Diamond District”, created by state veterans Oddisee, X.O.& YU. In The Ruff is the answer for any lover of hip hop who asks the question - “Where did that grimy East coast sound go?”
The group was founded by rapper/ producer Oddisee, who has a long listof production & collaboration credits with the likes of Freeway, TalibKweli, Siagon, Little Brother, Trek Life, Charles Hamilton, Jazzy Jeff, BuckShot, Royce the 5′9”, Nikki jean, Muhsinah, J-live, Lil Fame of MOP,Skyzoo and many more. Oddisee’s soulful, haunting samples over bass-heavy beat breaks create the perfect instrumentals for him, XO & YU tomatch with their street savvy, politically conscious lyrics.
“The ware wolves wear wool suits, be ware of them…”-YU
In The Ruff is a raw mid-90’s Boom-Bap themed album for the DC state ofmind, destined to appeal to all lovers of hip hop’s golden era, managing to travel back in time and push the boundaries of DC Hip-Hop simultaneously.

This album is phenomenal. Hip Hop is so healthy!

Ig'nant Sh*t!!!!

You ever just stare a woman's ass and admire the firmness and imagine how soft it is, like if you touch it will it pop like a bubble...... I do. Have you ever been in the good time moment with someone and you try to keep a cool poker face but when it that time for the "jip-jap" you wind up looking and sounding like a special ed person...... I have. You ever been at work and you get that gas bubble in you lower gut and you can't hold it anymore so you try to ease it out into your seat cushion and just when you think it's cool to move, you move and it's like "Holy Cow" so you get up and walk away from you cube as fast as you can to try to avoid any and everyone...... All the time. The title of this post says it all my good folk, to take life so seriously no matter what takes place in your life sometimes you got to learn to laugh.

Her. by Jason H

Could be a shining star on a rainy day that was .....Her
Made me feel like a King when the world made feel like a bum that was.....Her
Could spot her out of any crowd because our connection was strong, me to.....Her

So why does my heart feel cold and heavy at the mere thought of.....Her
Thoughts of betrayal and mistrust comes to mind when I think of.....Her
Damn why couldn't we just go back to being young with good vibrations, me and.....Her

Will always have those beautiful moments that will make me smile when I reminence of.....Her
The world keeps moving and I need to prepare myself for the next journey without.....Her
The man I had become was not the man that was meant to be for......Her

Knowing this prepares me in growth so I can be better for the next......Her
